Companion Care FAQ

Companion Care FAQ

Companion care is one of our most used in-home elderly care services at Elite Home Care, but that doesn’t mean we still don’t receive many questions about what it entails. Companion care provides multiple benefits to our Greenville and Spartanburg area residents, but most people paying for the services like to know what’s included. We’ve compiled a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions to help you better understand elderly companionship services.

FAQs:

What is companion care?
Companion care is a service in which our certified DHEC caregivers help our residents within their home. This includes multiple tasks like basic housekeeping, caring for the sick, accompanying patients to activities or events and even planning basic meals or keeping patients on their dietary/medication schedules.

What makes companion care different from day center care?
Companionship services are meant so our caregivers can provide support within the patient’s home rather than having the patient come to one of our day centers. This helps the elderly or disabled feel comfortable within their own space so they can maintain some level of independence.

How much does companion care cost?
On average, according to a Genworth Cost of Care study, most in-home care centers charge an average rate of $125 a day, but Elite Home Care works with patient’s budgets and needed hours to ensure this rate is much more affordable.

Does Medicare cover elderly companion care services?
Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover the cost of most types of assisted living, including companion care. To get a better idea of costs based on the hours needed within the home, please contact us online or give us a call at 864-869-8730 today.

Does companion care include transportation?
If you are using Elite Home Care for your companion care services, yes, companion care includes transportation based on the patient’s needs for the day. Our caregivers all use their own vehicle and are tracked with a comprehensive GPS system so we can tell where they are going, how many miles they have traveled and when they have returned home with your loved one. This provides a level of discreetness so your loved one doesn’t feel ashamed of being driven to and from activities.
